carried out in an emergency department of the regional hospital Al Idrissi in Kenitra during
the period from January 1st to Ferbruary 28, 2021.The Data collection was carried out during
shifts using a pre-established document.
Results : during the period of the study, 100 patients were received in the emergency
consultations with a male predominance (67%).The childrens whose age is less than 5,
represented 55% of the cases. Just a miniority of the patients (38%) were referred to the
regional hospital. The flow of the patients to the emergency departement reached its
maximum (70%) betweem 8 a.m and 4 p.m and the majority of them (38%) consulted on the
same day as the onset of the symptoms.
The reasons for consultation were represented by accidents in 28% of cases, followed
by respiratory (18%), digestive (16%), urinary (11%), dermatological (9%) and rheumatologic
(5%) symptoms.
Half of the patients were hospitalized in the pediatric departement, 12% in Children’s
surgery departement and 2% referred to the University Hospital in Rabat, while 34% of them
received outpatient treatment.
Conclusion : The proportion of non-emergency consultations remains high in our study
and congest the emergency department, causing less efficiency in the management of urgent
patients. These unjustified recourse to emergency departments must be prevented by
