Titre : | LES ASPECTS EPIDEMIOLOGIQUES, DIAGNOSTIQUES ET THERAPEUTIQUES DU MESOTHELIOME PLEURAL MALIN A L’INSTITUT NATIONAL D’ONCOLOGIE | Type de document : | thèse | Auteurs : | DAHBI Ayoub, Auteur | Année de publication : | 2023 | Langues : | Français (fre) | Mots-clés : | mésothéliome amiante chimiothérapie | Résumé : | Introduction : Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a rare cancer with a very poor prognosis.
Exposure to asbestos is the main cause. Most cases are detected late, with very limited
therapeutic options.
Material and methods : This is a retrospective descriptive study with a series of 9 cases of
malignant pleural mesothelioma, collected in the medical oncology department of the
National Institute of Oncology in Rabat over a 12-year period from 2011 to 2022.
Results : The mean age of patients was 54.4 years (25-75), with males predominating.
Asbestos exposure was found in 3 patients (33.3%). 1 patient was WHO 0, 7 patients were
WHO 1 and 1 was WHO 2. Chest pain was the main symptom (66.6% of cases), followed by
dyspnea (55.5%). Chest CT scans were performed in all patients and revealed pleural
thickening. The predominant histological type was epithelioid mesothelioma (88.8%).The
treatment was based on chemotherapy. Stability was maintained in 33.3% of patients, and
progression was noted in 11.1%, with 3 patients lost to follow-up.
Conclusion : according to our study, malignant pleural mesothelioma is considered a rare
tumor and is often diagnosed late, which makes the prognosis very poor. Management can
only be improved by early diagnosis and multidisciplinary consultation meetings. | Numéro (Thèse ou Mémoire) : | M4922023 | Président : | Hassan ER-RIHANI | Directeur : | Ibrahim EL GHISSASSI | Juge : | Saber BOUTAYEB | Juge : | Rachid TANZ | Juge : | Tarik MAHFOUD |
